BrLab is a project developed by Klaxon Cultura Audiovisual, and is the only audiovisual project development laboratory in Brazil that encourages and receives projects from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, granting financial aid so that professionals from different countries and Brazilian regions are able to participate in various activities, guided by renowned international consultants. For this reason, BrLab accumulates successful cases of films screened in Brazil and abroad, and has rapidly consolidated itself, over its eight years of existence, as an international reference among the main platforms, laboratories and similar initiatives globally.
Created in 2011 with funding and execution support from the Audiovisual Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, its seventh edition will take place on October 19-27, 2017, with sponsorship from São Paulo’s Municipal Department of Culture, in partnership with Spcine. Inserted since 2013 into the international calendar as an activity that integrates the Mostra de Cinema Internacional de São Paulo, the event reaffirms itself as the main Brazilian platform encouraging professional training, while stimulating the creation and development of audiovisual projects for the international market, especially those with potential for development through legal coproduction mechanisms.
During a period of seven days, two representatives of each selected project receive full guidance on fundamental project development aspects, such as: script, direction, production and distribution. The activities also include free lectures and meetings with Brazilian and foreign professionals, open to the general public.
